I have cramps…
Oh, It’s That Time of The Month…
Oh PMS… you know the feeling…

Well, everyone in my family is big boned so it’s harder for me…
Everybody wasn’t meant to be skinny…
I have so much stress, you know??? 

YES, I get it, I know what you mean and you know what I also get?

Those are nothing but excuses!!

I don’t want to be rude or harsh,
but I am tired of hearing excuses about how you can’t find time to exercise, 
or because you don’t feel well,
or because you don’t have anybody to work out with,
or because you are stressed on your job, 
or because the sky is blue,
and the earth is round.

It is just all excuses!! 

Now don’t get me wrong,
some excuses are valid, 
like you’re bleeding from your head,
or your cat just died (I’ll let you slide if FiFi died)
but other than that… You Should Be Exercising on a Daily Basis.  JUST 5-10  minutes a day would work wonders for your health, your well being and your overall fitness level.
You have to start somewhere…

So today I challenge you to Start Working Out. Start with 5 or 10 minutes a day.
Don’t know which exercises to do? You say?? Well You Are In Luck. At the bottom of this post I have attached a link to a great 10 minute exercise regimen that you can purchase through Team Beachbody. Tony Horton will be your personal trainer for 10 minutes every day. I have also added a 5 minute Shaun T workouts that he did on Dr. Oz. Shaun T is too cute! He has daily 5 minute workouts that he posts on his Fabcebook page just for those busy people who happen to have stress in their lives and are PMS’ing, you know… people like you and me…www.facebook.com/shauntfitness

So, I hope this post was encouraging. I hope this post has prompted you to Start Exercising, and I hope this post showed you that there is nothing out there that is stopping you from exercising… nothing but YOU. 

I say these things to you in love, I say these things to you to put a fire under you because if you don’t start today willingly, unfortunately tomorrow you may have to start reluctantly because of some unforeseen sickness or some news from the doctor that you don’t want to hear. I am here to prevent you from getting that bad news. I am here to let you see that all you need is the will and the determination to change your circumstances. So have you been wanting to start exercising? Now is the time. You do have the time, you can exercise through those PMS symptoms, you can combat that stress and yes you can be skinny…

Do you want to get rid of that Kangaroo Pouch?

Huh?? Kangaroo Pouch you ask?

Yes… that annoying accumulation of fat that is not quite on your waist and not quite as low as your hips… you know… that pouch of fat that sticks out when you zip up your pants. That round pouch of dough that sits there when you have on your nice sleek sexy dress or your nice tailored slacks. If you can’t relate then GOOD FOR YOU!! But in my case I have had that pouch for years. It followed me wherever I went. I went to the bathroom… that pouch was there. I ran my races… that pouch trudged along with me and even when I did my yoga poses and taught my aerobics classes… you got it! Mr. Pouch tagged along. It seemed like no matter what I did, I could not get rid of that extra belly fat at the bottom of my stomach, that I officially labeled my “Kangaroo Pouch“. If you know what I’m talking about say “I can relate DK“.
Do you know carrying around extra belly fat makes you more likely to develop Heart Disease than someone who carries their weight elsewhere on their bodies? I had high blood pressure for years! Yes, belly fat is the number one indicator that you have or will develop Heart Disease. So if you have been carrying around extra weight in the mid section, it is time to do something about it! Can you do crunches? YesCan you do sit ups?Yes, but will any of these methods burn the fat that you need to burn in the right way? NO! I don’t know about you but I’ve tried all of that and more and still that stubborn fat did not budge. It wasn’t until I started to feed my body with nutrient dense nutrition every single day and doing specific exercises that not only strengthens the core (stomach) but burns the fat around it at the same time. Once I started doing these things, I noticed my body changing in ways I never thought possible and quickly too. Now, I know your thinking that “everybody’s body is different” and absolutely, your body may take a little longer or your results may happen even quicker than mine… who knows? All I am saying is that once you start to feed your body what it needs EVERY SINGLE DAY and you add specific exercises that is proven to slim and sculpt your body, your abs will become slim, sleek and beautiful! Are you wasting money on a gym membership?

Slimmer healthier me

As I look back on my journey of yo-yo dieting, trying to find every way imaginable to lose weight, diet pills, quick fixes and broken promises. I am truly thankful for Team Beachbody. Before joining Team Beachbody I was on a health & wellness journey. This journey has spanned well over 15 years, but where did it get me exactly? Nowhere… can you relate? Have you had that gym membership only to find yourself wasting that money month after month? I tell you, I have been a member of Bally’s Total Fitness, I used to drag my sister to Lucille Roberts because I didn’t want to go by myself and God forbid I exercise in the presence of men. I felt that Lucille Roberts was safe because it was all women. I loved doing their step aerobics. Am I showing my age here?? Anyhow, that didn’t last long, because as soon as the weather started to get a little chilly and the sun went down a little earlier, I found myself shying away from traveling to the gym and snuggling up with a bowl of ice cream and cookies while the heat blasted and my television program kept me entertained. Besides joining Lucille Roberts twice… yes twice, I have joined many other small gyms in my neighborhood including Curves and the local recreation center, only to see that money go to waste and watch my waist line continue to increase. Now what comes along with not holding up your side of the bargain to get to that gym? Guilt! I would feel so guilty. I would tell  myself “now you know you should go to the gym”, but the laziness and the tiredness from working all day would literally take over my actions and as I would try to drag myself there every now and then, eventually I stopped going altogether. I could have probably been a very rich woman by now if I would have put all that money spent into a gym membership into an IRA or 401k, instead I wasted a lot of money and a lot of time. Does this sound familiar? Do you have that gym membership with the best intentions of getting there? I understand. Do you have your salads and your baby carrots in your lunch bag all to realize that by the end of the day, not only are you exhausted but you are starving?!? Trust me, I’ve been there. But I am here to let you know that you don’t have to waste your money on a gym membership anymore, you don’t have to starve because you’ve been munching on carrots and salad all day. First of all not getting enough nutrition is the number one reason for fatigue and secondly getting to the gym is getting harder and harder for busy folks like us. Let me ask you a question. If I could show you a better way to feed your body, get that nutrition your body is craving and have you get the best exercise to get your body fit and trim in only a few minutes a day without having to leave your house how would that sound? I know it sounds too good to be true right? I thought the same thing when my husband had this small package shipped to our house. I was really annoyed because I was so tired of all the hype surrounding weight loss things that just DID NOT WORK! However, what was in this package was so different than anything I had ever done before in my life. I told you I was a member of just about every gym out there but this program brought the gym to me without any weights or heavy equipment, none of that. All I needed was a mat and a DVD player it was brilliant. Oh, by the way, I was not new to working out at home. I was a huge fan of Billy Blank’s TaeBo but that kept my weight at such a plateau. I had even purchased his boot-camp but… nothing. So, as you can see, I was really on a quest for a program that would help me lose weight, tone my stomach, thighs, arms, increase my endurance and give me that energy I needed throughout the day. I found it in Shaun T’s Insanity. That’s what was in that box!! Insanity from what I know now is one of the toughest workouts in the Team Beachbody collection but I am here to tell you that if you want insane results in only 30 days, DO IT!! Before starting Insanity, I had taken up running (another attempt to lose weight and get healthy). I did lose weight. But running literally makes you skin and bones. If you are not building muscle and getting that necessary nutrition, running can run your body into the ground. I became a lover of running however, I found myself becoming very thin, frail and even sickly. I guess the calories I was burning with running was more than I was taking in and my body was not responding well to that at all. I was feeling more tired than usual and was getting cramps in my stomach frequently. I thought I was doing everything right, I was following a training guide, a nutrition guide, this guide and that guide but something just wasn’t right, nothing worked! So, I decided to take a small break from running. During this time my husband was following the Insanity program to the max, he was looking GOOD! I started to get a little jealous… so one day when he was out, I decided to pop that DVD into our player and I literally got the workout I had never had before. I exercised with the DVD everyday, I felt my endurance increase, my aching knees (oh, I forgot to mention that while running my knees used to hurt like CRAZY!) started feeling better and I felt stronger, more alert and I started to gain muscle. Everyone around me started to notice,but I never mentioned that this was what I was doing, they all thought it was from running. I am here to tell you today that the biggest mistake you can ever make is to keep something great to yourself. I wish I would have told everyone because these products are absolutely amazing!!  OK, so that was a little over 2 years ago. I had no idea what Team Beachbody was, here I am working in a classroom with the Dept. of Education, all the while trying to stay fit and healthy just like everyone else in the world right? I am doing my Insanity, because of it I get back into my running feeling great (as a matter of fact I am running my first marathon this year), losing weight, gaining muscle and just enjoying feeling healthy for once in my life. Fast forward to today. No more High Blood Pressure. No more Tiredness. No more Headaches. No more PMS Symptoms. No more Mood Swings. No more Cravings. I feel so much more in control of my life. I am about to step away from my full-time job to fully pursue my passion of helping others lose weight and get healthy all because of the great success I have had with these products. I have since added Shakeology to my diet which is by far THE HEALTHIEST MEAL OF THE DAY. I am finally at my ideal weight, my energy is through the roof, my attitude about myself has changed, my relationships have gotten stronger and I am an all around better person. I say all that to say this. You can lose that weight you so desperately have been trying to lose. Yes it took me 15 years… why? Because I didn’t know then what I know now. Why Exercise?

Why should I take time out of my very busy schedule to exercise? Why is my doctor telling me that I need to lose weight? Who cares if my blood pressure is a little high and my energy is a low? We are all going to die someday right?

Are these questions coming into your head or out of your mouth? If they are, then you need to take time to read this post. Exercise is the prevention of all the things that is unhealthy. Exercise gives you more energy. Exercise lowers your blood pressure. Exercise helps you lose weight and exercise can add years to your life. Exercise is the one thing that is standing in your way of becoming he healthiest version of yourself. With the incorporation of exercise into your day mixed with healthier eating and a positive outlook on life, you can absolutely transform yourself life a butterfly. Are you happy popping those blood pressure pills every day? Are you happy barely having the energy to do much after work? I already know that the answer is NO. But what can you do about it right? I understand, I was there, feeling just like you. I was on blood pressure medication, water pills, was tired all the time and could not get rid of that annoying kangaroo pouch at the bottom of my stomach. I was not happy with myself or my life . So what did I do? I ate more, I drank more alcohol and I immersed myself in television watching. Yes, I exercised every now and then but never stuck to it and it never made a positive impact on my health. It wasn’t until I realized that if I didn’t make up my mind about getting healthier that my health would only get worse. The doctors wanted to keep me in the hospital to monitor my blood pressure at one point. My oldest daughter was born 3lbs 2oz due to my pre-eclampsia. My weight would go up and down until I finally decided to make that change. And when I did, my blood pressure stabilized, I no longer had those crazy PMS cravings and my taste for excessive alcohol went away!! I started exercising and the more I exercised, the more I enjoyed it, the more I enjoyed it, better I felt and the better I felt the better life seemed to get. So don’t think that nobody understands where you are right now because I do. I have been there and back again. But it all starts with you.
