What exactly do you do to relax?  

Do you grab the remote control to watch the boob tube? Do you grab a nice cold beer or a cool glass of wine? Maybe you grab a cigarette or a joint. Whatever you do to relax is a representation of your current level of consciousness. What do I mean by this you ask? Well not too long ago I too indulged in a glass of wine or two when I needed to relax. I grabbed the remote and sank  into the couch to leave the cares of the world behind me. At one point I also puffed on a stogy and lit a joint, but you know what I eventually realized? I wasn’t relaxing at all. Actually I was putting more stress on my body by using these substances and taking in the energy from the media’s influences. Now if you currently do these things or a portion of these things to relax, I am by no means here to condemn you, but I am here to let you know that there is a better healthier way to relax.

Here are a few:

1- Go for a walk. Walking gets you moving and gets you out into nature
2- Do some deep breathing exercises. Breathe deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth
3- Sit in silence for a few minutes each day. Sitting in silence shuts out all of the outside influences and brings your sense of awareness to yourself
4- Exercise. I know this sounds counterproductive but it’s not. Exercising is one of the best ways to get more oxygen to your brain. It increases your endorphins and it wears you out!! :) So now you can relax comfortably and you also feel better about yourself because you found time to add some exercise into your day
5- Listen to soft music. Music can be soothing or it can be non-soothing. Find music that is soothing and has healing properties. Soft, gentle music
6- Learn to massage yourself. Massage your temples, massage your arms. Shrug your shoulders up and down. Roll your head left to right and up and down.
7- Count. Count in your mind from 1-100. This will put some space between you and what’s going on around you. Tune everything else out by counting in your head. Close your eyes and count.
8- Do Yoga. Yoga not only strengthens your body, but it strengthens your mind and relaxes you. With all of the breathing techniques associated with yoga, you can’t go wrong. Afterward, you will fee relaxed, rejuvenated and revived.
9-Meditate. There are many forms of meditation, so you have to find one that works for you. My particular practice consists of sitting in silence for about a half hour. Sit there, let your thoughts pass by like the wind. Other times I listen to soft soothing music, close my eyes and watch my breath. Watch your breath of life. The breath that sustains and keeps you alive.
10- Take a nap. Napping is a good way to relax. Napping takes stress away and puts your body in a nice relaxed state.

Try some of these alternatives to what yo are already doing. Try something new for 21 days as it takes 21 days to form a new habit. Ways to relax and de-stress is as much of a habit as anything else. Don’t Wait for Others to Fulfill You

Are you like most people? Do you have a strange tendency to wait for others to fill in your needs. This pattern of waiting for others is an extremely bad habit, it causes a lot of pain and stress in your relationships. It can even be fatal and can needlessly ruin a relationship! This is reason enough to take a closer look at this habit and learn how to handle it.

At the start of a new relationship, you get everything you have been longing for, sometimes since early childhood: love, affection, tenderness, attention, excitement and energy. You think you’ve finally found your Prince Charming (or Princess Charming) and all your needs are fulfilled forever! After all, they lived long and happily ever after. Why can’t you? You wallow in the illusion that this new excitement will last forever, and that you don’t have to do anything in order to keep receiving this stream of love and energy from your significant other.

However, reality turns out differently. After a while things seem a little less than perfect. It’s not that your lover loves you any less, but maybe you start to realize that a big share of his attention and energy goes to his job, his friends and activities he used to have before he met you.

You panic!! What’s going on? Does he not love me anymore? Did I become ugly, fat, or boring? You try to find a reason why the stream of energy coming from him is weakening. You used to feeling 500 Volts coming from him, and now you have to content yourself with a lousy 100. You decide that you won’t let this happen to you and you demand he continues to give you what he gave in the beginning. You are focused on what you think you are entitled to receive, and on what he shouldn’t be giving you.

How strange! Why don’t you focus on what YOU can give to HIM? Why be so stubborn to maintain this bizarre belief that everything you need should be given to you by someone else?? Why wait for someone to give to you what you need? Why not give it to yourself?? And why not simply give to your significant other what YOU would like to receive for yourself? Sounds good right? Well it is good! It’s all good!! Trust me you have nothing to lose by using this approach. But I can assure you that you have a lot to gain!!! love, affection, tenderness, attention, excitement and energy. That’s right! Exactly the same things that you were provided with in the beginning!

YOU can give them to yourself, and you can give them to him. Giving is the only fail-safe way to make sure you receive. Let me state this again… Giving is the only fail-safe way to make sure you receive. Try to understand this. If you have to wait for somebody else to give you what you need, you can wait forever and there’s a decent risk that you will never get it. But, If you give what you need to yourself and to the other, then you have it both ways: once because you gave it to yourself, and once because you will get back from the other what you gave to them. You can literally have your cake and eat it too!

Why does it work this way? Because by giving something, you are tuning yourself to the frequency of that which you give. Let’s say, for example, you need attention. Instead of examining the behavior, facial and verbal expressions of your partner, trying to detect whether he gives you enough attention, you can give attention to him! Ask him how he is feeling right now, how his day went, what he learned today, and if he met any interesting people. Show your genuine interest, and I bet he will be interested in you too. You give attention, and you will get attention in return! You want love? Give love! You want advice? Give advice! You need an energy boost? Boost up someone else’s energy level and in doing so you will feel your own energy rising! You want people to listen to you? Then first listen carefully to someone else who needs to be heard. You want more friends? Then befriend others! You want more respect from your children? Respect them!

So, in order to get what you want, learn to give it first!!

Instead of waiting for your significant other to give you love, why don’t you give love to him or her?
Instead of waiting for your children to respect you, why don’t you start by respecting them? Be an example. Instead of dreaming of a wonderful job that satisfies your needs, try to be wonderful at your current job first! Instead of wanting your friends to invest time and energy in your relationship, why don’t you give some extra time and energy to them! Instead of waiting for peace and calm to come into your life, why don’t you create the silence and inner balance needed to feel the peace you long for?

It’s all a matter of energy vibrating. By giving what you want from others, you are tuning in to the vibrational energy of what it is you want. If you want love and you give it to others, you are in the energy of love already. Giving love makes you feel that love and you then attract more love into your life. Giving attention makes you feel the attention. Giving respect puts you in the energy vibration of respect and you will attract more respect towards yourself.

This works for anything you desire. You will not only get what you want by giving it, but you will also be much less dependent on others. You will feel the power of being in charge of your own life!

Become a Money Magnet

Do you want to learn how to become a money magnet? 

Do you currently attract money or do you repel it? Do you find yourself saying that you are “broke” or telling the kids that you don’t have enough money to buy that toy they really want?
Are you constantly worrying about bills? Does money issues put a strain on your relationship?
Do you want to be on the other side of the spectrum where money flows easily and abundantly in and out of your pockets. Do you want to be able to find money in strange places? Do you win the lotto, scratch offs or Bingo? Do you want to be the one who picks up the tab when you go out to dinner with friends? Would you like your bank account to be filled with a nice nest egg?
Well here’s the difference between the two scenarios

If you are finding it hard to keep or hold on to money, that means you are blocking yourself from obtaining the money you want. There is always enough money, however, if you are repelling it with fear, doubt, anger, depression and uncertainty, then guess what?? The money will not manifest itself. The universe is abundant with money because after-all, money is energy. Every thing on this planet operates from an energy frequency and if you are putting negative energy towards your money then either you will not have enough money to do the things you would like to do or you will get money at times and have long periods of time where there will be no money. If you hoard money, you will not keep money. If you stress about not having money, you will not have money, if you think money is the root of all evil, you will not have money. If deep down in your subconscious you think you don’t deserve money, then money will not come to you. I have good news for you though. You don’t have to be broke anymore!! YAYYY!! You have the power to take charge of your life and your finances for good. This is not a get rich quick scheme. It is the total opposite in fact. This method is all up to you. It’s about taking control of your emotions and recharging that negative energy and turning it into positive energy. All you have to do is start changing the way you think and feel about money. Erase all those old limiting beliefs that told you you were not good enough or that you don’t deserve to have more or that money was only for corrupt evil people. This is simply not true, we are made in the image of God The Creator. We are creators by nature and we deserve every good thing on this planet. We deserve the abundance that comes with all of God’s beautiful creations. The birds don’t worry about anything, the fish swim along carefree, we are the only creatures on this planet that worries and frets about any and everything, the main of these being MONEY!! I want  you to start thinking about money as simply a tool to be used for certain purposes just like a hammer. Do you worry about having a hammer to drive a nail? No. Why? Because you know you have one in the shed somewhere or in the toolbox. So, start thinking about money just like that. Just know that there is money waiting for you when you need it. You just have to find it, reach out and get it. You can start this journey of finding, reaching and getting by simply stating a few affirmations throughout the day to train your mind into thinking differently. To get different results you have to do things differently. Here are the affirmations:

Are you being programmed?

Ahh!! So it’s the end of the day and you kick off your shoes after a long day at work. You look in the refrigerator to see what you should cook for dinner. Oh, maybe you’ll have some leftovers, that sounds good. But before you do… where is that darn remote control?? And so the ‘fun’ begins. Or is it fun afterall? Does this sound like your typical day? If so then let me be the first to tell you that you have some work to do if you really would like to make some improvements in your life. My youtube friend Infinite Waters says that” television tells lies to your vision”. And it is so true!! What is it that you are gaining by watching hours of television? Don’t you understand that the you are being programmed every time you turn the television on and you are channeling images and suggestions into your brain that you aren’t even aware of? Why do you think they call them television “programs”? And then you look to see what “channel” your favorite show is on. All of this is subconscious programming. The powers that be are influencing your behaviors, your thoughts, your emotions and your moods. The more you sit in front of the boob tube the more you are becoming hypnotized and programmed into thinking and believing that what you are seeing on the screen is actually real. These images and portrayals are not real at all. Everything you see on TV is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. It’s all a ploy to take you away from your true reality. Do you really care if NeNe from The Atlanta Housewives is on Dancing With The Stars? or if Miley Cyrus is twerking again on the Billboard Awards? I don’t want to deter you from enjoying a good television program if that is your daily mode of relaxation. What I want to do however is to let you know that A) what you think is relaxation is really the total opposite. Watching television actually makes you anxious and nervous (especially if your watching the news) and B) Watching TV steers you away from more healthier activities such as walking or bicycling and C) Excessive TV watching can make you overweight. OH NO!! Hearing the last one should make you want to turn that Te- lie- vision off for good! If you think about all the advertising that is done on the TV it is insane. You actually watch more commercials than the actual show you are tuned in to. Have you ever noticed how loud the TV gets when the commercial comes on? That’s because it’s designed that way. It’s designed to feed on your emotions and play on your intelligence. It is designed to make you see all those rich, successful people on the screen flashing designer clothes, cars, and jewelry and it makes you want to feel rich and successful too, so they use these “icons” to sell things to you that you don’t need and/or can’t afford. Then what comes next? Debt, anxiety because you have to pay that bill that reflects those items that you didn’t need or want in the first place. I am here to help you awake to your true self. None of these things matter! Yes it is great to have all the things you want. After all we were meant to live a life of abundance in the land of milk and honey. However, you have to crawl before you walk. I speak from experience, trust me when I tell you. I have been in debt, out of debt and in debt again. Why? was it from watching too much television? At the time I didn’t give that one thought because I was so unconscious in my behavior I couldn’t recognize things like that, but as I became more enlightened and started to see the things that were being displayed right in front of me and my family on the television screen. I knew I had to make a change. The subliminal as well as the overt messages that are being passed through the screen, is too much to even go into in this blog, but I definitely learned that there is a distinct correlation between debt and many hours of television watching. I am not saying that everyone who watches TV is in debt but what I am saying is that the more television a person watches, the more likely he/she is to make impulsive purchases. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. I have attached a link to give you more information about the medium called television. I feel as if I just got one of those Aha! moments. It seems as though no one has done research on the correlation between shopping and television watching. I guess I will have to be the first. Stay tuned for that. As I delve into unchartered waters. Children can quickly get you to a place of Abundance

So, today I took my girls out to the park to enjoy this beautiful weather. At 12pm they had gymnastics class, I sat in my car to catch up on some reading of ‘What Makes The Great Great’ by Dennis Kimbro, PhD. However, that never happened. I diverted my attention instead to my e-mails and came across an email from a man named Amish Shah. He is a an Innovate Internet Entrepreneur. To learn more about his fascinating story and what he does I suggest you Google him and prepare to be amazed. Any-who, back to my story. After reading about Mr. Shah, my children like clockwork came out of gymnastics class with big smiles and loads of energy. My 8-year old daughter said she was hungry so I decided to take them to the health food store to get them a nice vegetarian lunch. We ordered soy chicken, chick peas, rice with mixed vegetables and collard greens. We sat and ate, then I picked up a few things that we needed in the home like some Dr. Woods Castile’s Soap along with a tube of Nature’s Gate fluoride free toothpaste. We left and while I approached the park not too far from our home, I showed them the new exercise equipment that was installed there during the winter. So of course my children said… “ooh mommy can we go into the park?” I was happy to oblige because more than anything else, I love to keep my children healthy, happy and moving. We utilized the exercise equipment in the park, doing pull-ups and push-ups, doing dips and sit-ups. We were really into our little workout routine and then I had the idea for us to do some cartwheels. Now, let me take you on a trip down memory lane. I used to be a cartwheeling fanatic when I was little. I could not get enough of cartwheeling. Any free space that I could find was a good place for me to bust out a cartwheel!! And guess what? My girls are the exact same way. I was not fortunate enough to attend gymnastics class like my little darlings but it didn’t stop me from doing cartwheels whenever I could. As a child, I loved watching the Olympics, Mary Lou Retton was my absolute favorite gymnast. I loved watching her grace and her form. She was such an inspiration to me that I dreamed about doing what she could do on those balance beams and those parallel bars. Unfortunately, my dream was crushed when in elementary school I was caught talking in the back of gym class. I was called up to the front of the class to demonstrate how to straddle a piece of equipment called the “horse”. I was supposed to run and jump on the “horse” and twirl myself around. You’ve seen it in the Olympics. But to my luck, I was not paying attention during the teacher’s demonstration. I ran to the horse with my heart  pounding, all of the 5th grade student body watching and landed upside down on the side of the “horse”. Everyone laughed. I was so humiliated that I just wanted to curl up in a ball and roll away from the laughter. After that moment, I never really had the motivation to cartwheel or anything else. I felt like a failure. But them something remarkable happened… I had children!! Of course it was many years later but these two girls that I gave birth to seemed to have a gymnastics gene. My younger daughter Elaysia is extremely flexible and my other daughter Madison has a great passion for gymnastics. So, back to the cartwheeling idea. We did cartwheels in the park, and back bend kick overs, and splits… we had a magical day in the park. Every family should have the opportunity to spend quality time with their children in the park because you know what?? we don’t get those moments back when they are young and want to just have fun with mom and dad. This is what being abundant is all about. Yes, we at DKHEALTHY1 teach the process to becoming abundant. But what is abundance? Abundance can mean different things to different people but the bottom line is that if you are not abundant in your family life and enjoying your children who are full of life and joy and peace and love, then you are missing what it really means to be abundant. As adults we have the tendency to live a serious life. We are preoccupied with work, bills, or whatever else we think is so important. But honestly, nothing is more important than finding that time to have some Family Fitness Fun!! We teach balance of Mind, Body & Spirit. And having Family Fitness Fun meets all three criteria. We had a blast and although I could have been doing a million other things, I am happy to have been doing exactly what I was doing and being exactly where I was being at that moment, I would not have changed that experience for anything else.
